HERO AND VILLAIN?

With a face like this,
can he truly be bad?

Sephiroth is my all-around favorite bad-guy! You've no doubt heard of tragic heroes. Well, how about a tragic villain? If you've played FFVII, then you know that the game's ultimate evildoer is not this handsome hunk!

I was truly amazed by the revelation that, five years in the past, Cloud somehow managed to kill Sephiroth. Well, the Great One returned, didn't he? (Yaaay!) Jenova is apparently immortal. Sephiroth returned once, so this trait was evidently passed on to him. That means he'll live forever!

The Great Sephiroth is the inspiration for the antagonist of the fantasy novel I'm writing. Read the prologue and you'll see!

(Hehee...Sorry about that, Aeris fans)

Sephiroth kills Aeris because she's a major threat to him, but doesn't realize that he's totally under the control of Jenova.
There are indications of a heroic nature within him, which makes his evolution into a murderous madman all the more heartbreaking. To me his descent into madness is a reflection of his true humanity. Consider the fact that he never has the chance to live a normal life. First he's controlled by Shinra, and then he's manipulated by Jenova. A tragic villain indeed.

OOH-LA-LA! Uh...Sorry. Didn't mean to get carried away there. It's just that I really love this guy. Oh, those incredible eyes, that gorgeous face, those broad shoulders...Well, you get the idea.
